What Breast Implants Can Do For You
Breast augmentation can be performed as a cosmetic or reconstructive surgery. While some patients simply want cosmetic enhancement, others want to restore lost breast tissue after a mastectomy or chest trauma.
However, breast augmentation is not designed to address sagging breast tissue. If you are unhappy with the projection of your bust line because of weight loss, pregnancy, or aging, you may be a better candidate for a breast lift. Dr. Berbari can combine breast augmentation with a breast lift to give you the shape, size, and lift you desire.

Is Breast Augmentation Safe?
All surgical procedures carry a degree of risk. Choosing a board-certified surgeon is one of the most important things a patient can do to maximize their safety.
Dr. Berbari is always careful to strike a balance between what the patient wants and what is safe for their body. At Centre Chirurgical De La Capitale in Gatineau, Quebec, we dedicate a generous amount of time to our initial consultations so that we can build strong patient-surgeon relationships, consistently exceed patient expectations, and ensure successful breast augmentations.
To further promote your safety, we only use breast implants that have been approved by Health Canada.
What to Expect During Breast Augmentation Surgery

Recovering From Breast Augmentation
Recovery from breast augmentation surgery varies for each patient, but all patients can generally expect soreness during the first two days of recovery. Because Dr. Berbari wants to make your experience as comfortable as possible, she prescribes pain medication to counteract negative side effects.
You will also receive a compression garment to wear for approximately six weeks after your surgery. For your convenience, these are available at our surgery center.
To reduce the risk of capsular contracture, you will be instructed to massage your breasts gently during your recovery.
Risks & Complications
Like any surgery, breast augmentation carries some degree of risk. Dr. Berbari dedicates extensive consultation time to ensure patients are aware of potential complications, which could include:
- Bleeding
- Infection
- Pain
- Problems with scarring
- Re-opening of incision
- Capsular contracture (hardening of the breast)
However, while certain factors like medications, smoking, sun exposure, the type of breast implant, and the placement of the breast implant can increase your risk of complications, certain issues are completely unpredictable. It is important to be aware of and prepared for unforeseen side effects.
